These coordinates are used for the compilation of a base map from rectified photographs
in a scale 1 : 12.500. From this topographical maps 1 : 25.000, 1 : 50.000 and 1 : 100.000
and in addition a technical map 1 : 10.000 are derived.
III. 7. Aerial triangulation in the Cadastral Service
Although this service only carried out surveys of blocks, the triangulation is treated in
strips using the stereoplanigraph C 8 with numerical orientation. The photographs in the
scale 1 : 10.000 are taken with the following cameras: Wild RC 7: 35 strips total 105 km
with an average of 5 pairs per strip; Zeiss twin camera 60 strips total length 300 km, as
an average 5 pairs per strip.
Ground control points are available at each 3rd pair, which means 1 set of points in
the beginning, in the middle and at the end of each strip. These points are signalized with
discs of 30 cm. For the absolute orientation it is assumed that the terrain is horizontal.
The triangulations are carried out once for each strip. The machine coordinates for each
strip are corrected by means of a second order curve. The coordinates determined in this
way have an accuracy of about 15 cm, which represents a mean square error of 15 microns
in the plane of the negative, which, without any doubt is remarkably good. This is probably
also due to the short interval of ground control. Since only one pair is really bridged,
there will be in general very few cases, in which aerial triangulation with so much ground
control is really justified from the economic point of view.
CHAPTER IV. THE APPLICATION OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY TO
THE SURVEY OF THE EARTH SURFACE
We will deal in this chapter separately with the subject of each of the subcommissions
in order to facilitate the comparison of this national report with the various reports of
Commission IV.
Subcommission IV/1. Production of large scale maps and cadastral surveys
The services dealing in this country with large scale photogrammetric map production
are:
a. Cadastral Service.
b. Survey Department of the Ministry of Transport and Waterstaat.
c. K.L.M. Aerocarto.
IV/1.a. Cadastral Service
The surveys for reallotment (landconsolidation) and resurvey of old cadastral maps is
exclusively executed by the Bureau of the Cadaster, which has since 1955 had a special
Department for Photogrammetry. The Wild RC 7 camera was used until 1958, later the
Zeiss Twin camera.
