for each student. This resulted in an increase in time and consequently the satisfaction
of the students in doing this work, compared with the interrupted exercises of one after-
noon each week, to such an extent that a larger number of students now select photo-
grammetry as their main subject in the last (fifth) year of their study.
The activities of the I.T.C. have been mentioned in several chapters of this national
report. Regarding education the establishment of the degrees of Bachelor and Master of
Science in photogrammetric engineering must first of all be mentioned. It was found to
be desirable to grant in some cases degrees on a university level. This was only possible in
a way which is comparable with the methods in the English speaking world. The Master's
Degree is in itself for the organization of the I. T.C. the easiest, since this can only be
granted to those gentleman who come to us with an acceptable Bachelors Degree in
Engineering or with a university Engineers Degree and who, after following the complete
course for I. T.C. Phogrammetric Engineer, produce a thesis dealing with the result of
some research on a photogrammetric subject. The total time for the study for this Masters
Degree will be on an average 1!/, years.
The establishment of the Bachelors Degree is more difficult since the I. T.C. does not
give those fundamental courses which are the basis for Bachelor Degrees in Engineering
or related subjects. Consequently for the Bachelor Degrees the I. T.C. accepts only those
students who have had at least two years successful university education in engineering
and have proved to have the mathematical knowledge which is normal as the basis for
the study of Engineering.
The evaluation of the preliminary education offered for the Bachelors degree, proved
to be rather difficult. Since, however, as far as it is known no bachelor degrees in photo-
grammetric engineering exist, the I. T.C. requests that this degree be only recognized in
the various countries as a degree on an average university level. To obtain further degrees
elswhere, such as the Master and Doctors Degrees, the gaps must be filled, for instance in
the basic engineering subjects for civil engineering since our bachelors degree is no more
than a prove of having specialized in one particular subject on the basis of part of a
university or equivalent education. The diagram in FIGURE 2 shows the regular increase of
students of the I. T.C. from the early beginning.
