On September 26, 1959, 
central Japan suffered serious 
damage from a typhoon. This 
typhoon is called Typhoon Ise Bay

reported as missing. A number of sea walls collapsed and a total of 270,000 houses were 
destroyed or damaged. 
With a view to formulating a relief and rehabilitation plan in a hurry by collecting 
accurate information concerning the extent of damage, aerial photos of the entire stricken area 
were taken. This photographing was carried out on September 28 and 30 and valuable photos
