The ALS operates a modern, high quality scientific photographic
laboratory. It is equipped with a standard range of printers, enlargers
and through-the-wall processors for colour and black & white film and
paper processing.
The technology is well established and literature on the subject is
extensive. However, in many respects, imagery is the shopfront product by

products are high quality equipment, rigid process control, absolute
cleanliness and conscientious inspection procedures.

Australian user community needs, the ALS has developed procedures and
streamlined its systems to:
- ensure the quality of the data archive;
- generate timely and comprehensive catalogues;
= provide speedy and reliable turn-around on orders.
Because bulk processed products constitute the majority of the orders,
special effort has been expended in streamlining the bulk processing
system. Specific areas in which improvements have been made include:

resulting in substantial time saving and a significant drop in
operator errors;
