the (x,y) Sigil coordinates. These pixel coordinates are passed through a
transformation model with the resulting (lat, long) acquired. At this point
the operator is cued via the SUPER-P™ graphics in the APPS-IV to the
location in the analog imagery source where these features/changes exist.
Using the analog source greater visual acuity, point mensuration
attributes the operator can either accept or reject the results of the
automated process. If the results are accepted thé feature/changes can be
further delineated , identified, and positioned constructing a feature or
'new feature‘ overlay file. This overlay file contains precise location
change information, in both graphic and alphanumeric formats. New
digitized graphics can be created using the APPS-IV or the digital image
display, and will simultaneosly appear in the other. The third function of
AIMS (C) combines the proper scene of digital imagery with the final or
new overlay information to result in any combination of local or remote
hardcopy or softcopy annotated imagery depicting change or update
information to the user.
The files and software as annotated as disc symbols in figure 1 with
(1) are used in the first step with those annotated with (2) in the second,
(3) in the next step, and (5) (along with some of the data from (1) for final
product display in the new image is to be overlayed). The files noted as
DFAD, VOF, and CARTO data could be used as part of the second step to do
automated change detection and would be updated in step(7). Step (7) is
performed if the objective is to maintain those types of MC&G feature
files Dy using AIMS ‘final output as changes to Digital Feature Analysis
Data (DFAD), Vertical Obstruction Files (VOF), and cartographic data.
The value of AIMS is that it offers the user the ability to utilize a
number of different hardware and software components within the system
needed to perform certain exploitation tasks most efficiently and
accurately. AIMS can stand alone as either a total digital or analog
exploitation/processing system or as a merged system depending on the
specific user requirements.
