Both image formats need to be registered to each other. Corresponding
points are measured in (x,y) digital space, and (lat, long) ground space
using the APPS-IV with a resulting model file. The model file serves as a
transformation between the two coordinates systems.
- #3 Change Detection Cue Phase
Feature/changes from the ‘feature flag file’ are visually super imposed
over both image formats. As a son in the digital image display, and a
stereo (SUPER-P™) graphic in the optics of the APPS-IV. The operator is
cued to the location of the features/change in both image display systems.
- *4 Digital Data Capture Phase
User accepts or rejects results of automated process, and
feature/changes are further delineated and identified. They can be
digitized using the trackball and digital display, or the APPS-IV. Any
raphics produced on either display system will simultaneously appear on
he other. Resulting segment and nodes are stored in a GIS {geographic
information sytem) for future use.
The user can utilize any one of these configurations. If rapid, gross
exploitation is required, AIMS can serve as a complete digital image
processing workstation. If more accurate validation, mensuration, and
identification is needed AIMS supports real-time analog imagery
exploitation potential using the APPS-IV.
A key feature of AIMS is that one image pre-processor subsystem could
support many analytical feature matching subsystems using the
APPS-IV(with SUPER-P" ). E using this approach, a fast high volume,low
cost image exploitation capability Can be provided that combines the best
of the digital and analog data hadling techniques to provide gross as well
as very detailed and accurate spatial information in a variety of user
formats. This architecture minimizes the use of a limited number of
operators and amount of imagery needed while maximizing the volume of
overall imagery being exploited.
