Full text: Photogrammetric and remote sensing systems for data processing and analysis

3. Planicomp Software

The scope and power of the software affects the performance of an analy-
tical plotter even more than its hardware. The latest improvements are
listed below:
- Improved real-time carriage control in the vector mode (LOOP).
- Extended real-time carriage control for compensating special camera
geometries, film deformation etc. (B 198, LOOPX).
- Single-level bundle orientation of photo pairs with additional con-
ditions (C007).
- Bundle block adjustment with additional conditions for industrial
photogrammetry (BINGO by E. Kruck/G. Konecny, University of Hannover).
- Model block adjustment with automatic gross error correction
(PAT-MR by H. Klein/F. Ackermann, University of Stuttgart).
- Extension of progressive sampling, and superimposition with VIDEOMAP
(PROSA by W. Reinhardt/H. Ebner, Technical University of Munich).
- Improvement and extension of the DEM software by programs for volume
and slope map computation and output
(HIFI by H. Ebner et al, Technical University of Munich).
- Highway design package with programs for measuring, computing and
mapping according to US standards (B 173 package by Kucera Associates,
Mentor/Ohio).
- Real-time connection to Intergraph IGDS/Stereodigitizer Workstations.
4. PLANIMAP Digital Mapping Software

The PLANIMAP photogrammetric mapping system supports graphical plot-
ting with analog instruments and with Planicomp family stereoplotters.
Being a "truly" three-dimensional geometrical data acquisition system,
it satisfies all requirements of photogrammetry and of future land infor-
mation systems, and stores all object data in planimetric and elevation
object space coordinates.
When using digital mapping methods, the problem of integrating existing
maps becomes rather urgent. This is why Zeiss has expanded the PLANIMAP
system for 2-dimensional (plane) digitization. The DIGI-AS program imple-
ments the PLANIMAP functions in the same way as the Zeiss PLANI-AS pro-
gram for analog instruments. DIGI-AS and PLANI-AS are nearly identical
in design, scope of functions and handling. The PLANIMAP panel, a pro-
grammable control panel, ensures faster and more comfortable command entry
compared to conventional command code keying because only a single sensor
button has to be pressed. The PLANIMAP panel also allows entering command
sequences (macros) by simply pressing a single button.
