5. VIDEOMAP and PLANITAB

Leaving aside the generally available Planicomp periphery, the VIDEOMAP
and PLANITAB photogrammetric output devices are discussed in more detail
below.
VIDEOMAP
Zeiss VIDEOMAP consists of a special graphics and display processor and
an HP vector refresh monitor. Superimposing graphical information on the
air photo in the analytical stereoplotter offers not only the above-men-
tioned advantage of real-time digital map checking. Apart from measured
data logging, significant future VIDEOMAP applications will include super-
imposition of invisible information such as properly lines or utility
networks for comparison and proper inclusion in the PLANIMAP file; super-
imposition of existing maps (digitized with DIGI-AS, if applicable) for
map revision; or superimposition of plans or models for comparison with
the "real world" of a current stereo model.
Together with the Planicomp, the following applications are already being
supported by VIDEOMAP (in addition to digital mapping):
- Representation of single-point measurements for orientation, aerotrian-
gulation and cadastral work (the C 123 program now supports VIDEOMAP).
- Representation of progressively sampled points and lines
(PROSA output to VIDEOMAP),
- Representation and verification of HIFI results with VIDEOMAP
(in preparation).
To conclude, the VIDEOMAP software interface is documented and a subrou-
tine library for HP 1000 computers is available so that users can program
their own applications.
PLANITAB
The T 110 and T 102 PLANITAB Tracing Tables are identical in concept,
technology and accessories and feature high precision, speed and accele-
ration. Compared to the low-cost T 110 PLANITAB the T 102 offers a larger
size, higher acceleration and higher operator convenience. The tracing
tables and the tracing heads are prepared for single and quadruple tan-
gential conrol. The tracing surface can be illuminated and equipped with
a vacuum system for optimum paper flattening. It can be tilted and, in
the T 102, height-adjusted. To orient map sheets and digitize individual
points, a setting microscope and a TV system consisting of a camera and
a monitor are available.
The processor which controls these tracing tables can be programmed by
means of a comprehensive set of commands. The GRAPH F2 subroutine library
is available for HP 1000 computers. GRAPH F2 and mapping programs together
form the PLTAB-AS software package for graphical output on separate T 110
and T 102 tables connected to an HP 1000.
