Fig. 1. Soil depth, soil reaction, CEC and Organic Carbon maps of Dhar district
standard level of management soil properties and crop
requirements. The soil suitability such as S1 (highly suitable),
S2 (moderately suitable), S3 (marginally suitable), N1 Not
suitable (temporarily) and N2 Not suitable (permanently) have
been assessed and depicted for crops such as jowar, soybean,
maize, wheat, gram, sugarcane, mustard, cotton, groundnut,
moong, vegetables for the area presently arable uses while the
area under non-arable have been interpreted for non-arable uses
and depicted in three classes as SI (highly suitable), S2
(moderately suitable) and S3 (marginally suitable) for teak,
bamboo, sal, eucalyptus, mixed forest (Fig.2 showed some of
the examples of soil suitability maps).

These delineation and depiction are highly correlated with the
data base similar observations were reported by (Tamgadge et
al., 2001) The use of landsat imageries and GIS techniques are
the important and advance tools for preparation and
dissemination of information. These tools are seems to be boon
for making resource inventory and its use for making over all
developmental activities in the field of agriculture and related
resources oriented projects in shortest possible period for all
walk of peoples including farmers, policy makers,
administrators, researchers, decision makers, extension
workers, etc.
