“Kraichgau” were investigated within the Graduiertenkolleg 
GRK 259 “Mitigation Strategies for the Emission of 
Greenhouse Gases and Environmentally Toxic Agents from 
Agriculture and Land Use“. The case study of the Rur- 
Watershed was investigated within the CRC TR 32 “Patterns in 
Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere-Systems. Monitoring, Modelling 
and Data Assimilation”. All three projects were/are funded by
