proposed IDC-EPPWC on the basis of the Laval Data Bank or combining the
IDC-EPPWC with the Laval Data Bank and housing the IDC-EPPWC at Laval
University's Department of Photogrammetry. The meeting agreed:

to make every effort to realize the IDC during the forthcoming
Canadian FIG Administration 1985-1988.
C) The president of ISPRS (Dr. F. Doyle) is to contact the United
Nations Cartographic Section to explore continued United Nations
support.
d) The IDC-EPPWC is to include cadastral and Land Information
System data.
Further discussions on the project took place between Mr. Charles
Weir, President-Elect of FIG and Drs. A.J. Brandenberger & S.K. Ghosh at
the CIS Centennial Meeting in spring 1982 in Ottawa and Mr. Weir is preparing
a request to the author of this paper to work out a detailed project
proposal together with a budget (the latter to be covered at least partially
by Canadian sources).
Structure and Operation of the proposed IDC-EPPWC
A preliminary and realistic scheme for the IDC-EPPWC has been
prepared by Prof. Matthias. This scheme consists of the following phases:
1. Tasks of the IDC-EPPWC
-Survey and analysis on a global basis on the status of professional
education (higher education institutions, technical colleges, profes-
sional training), responsible faculties, level of education, course
curriculas, enrollment, duration of studies or training [P.S.: basic
ground work on this survey has already been completed; reference is
made to Source 2)].
-Survey and analysis on a global basis on the status of professional
practice; government S & M agencies, private S & M sector, including
ratios of work distributions. Responsibilities and tasks of the
various individual S & M organizations. Structure of these organiza-
tions according to expertise and size.
-Publication of periodic reports within the framework of FIG.
-Providing information on specific request.
-Participate in the activity of FIG.
2. Organization and funding of the IDC-EPPWC
