Standards of Competence (SoC) = Befähigungsanforderungen - Normes de Competence

Addendum for consideration to authors of Position Papers

1. It may be worth to repeat that we don not attempt to establish Standards
of Competence for other disciplines (categories), such as geographers or
architects. We can just develop standards for the photogrammetric and
remote sensing part of these categories, and we can recommend to the pro-
fessional Societies concerned to approve and to adopt the standard.
2. Further to definitions :
Anything feasible to be taught is comprised within a curriculum. This is
split into courses (eg.America), or chapters (some countries in Europe, a
sample is vrinted in PhotEng 1976/80h-806). The term " course" is neither
known nor used in several countries.
Different '' levels 'can be distinguished according to the portion of the
curriculum being actually taught.
3, A rough and preliminary idea for different levels could be
(abbreviating p = photogrammetry, and rs = remote sensing) :
level 7 = full cuuriculum photogrammetry
as full curriculum remote sensing
level Do = essential parts of curriculum photogrammetry
bes = essential parts of curriculum remote sensing
level c - minimum requirement photogrammetry
UNE. minimum requirement remote sensing.
Now, different levels can be defined for specific categories. Just some
samples are indicated:

Remote Senser, level A =a + So (optimum level)
level B = + C
rs p
level C = c à € (minimum level)
rs p
Active Photogrammetric Engineer, level A = a_ + S s
level B=Db + ©
p rs
level C 6 + ©
rs
Geographer, level À = b + C Civil Engineer, level À = € +C
level B z c + C level B= €
rs rs
level C = € level C = C
