I am writing to request your assistance in connection with some 
Commission VI work in which I am involved. As you may know, 
ISPRS Commission VI is exploring the feasibility of establishing 
"Standards of Competence" for individuals in other disciplines 
(e g civil engineering, forestry, geology, etc) who use photogram- 
metry and remote sensing. I have been requested by Dr Hothmer, 
President of Commission VI, to prepare a position paper on the 
feasibility of "Standards of Competence" for civil engineers. 
In order to asses this feasibility, I feel that reactions from 
individuals in civil engineering as well as those in photogram- 
metry and remote sensing are required. 
I already have and will be able to get information from the USA 
concerning this question. Now, I wonder, if I could prevail upon 
you to provide me with some names of professional civil engineers 
in your country from whom I might solicit reactions to this pro- 
posal? Preferably they should be civil engineers with some know- 
ledge or experience in photogrammetry or remote sensing and 
ideally would be from education, government agencies and private 
practice. 
«f. Enclosed is a copy of Working Group VI-10 Outline 01.82 which 
provides background concerning the proposed standards of campe- 
tence. Please, note that discussions at this time are only at the 
> stage of studying the feasibility of standards of competence. You 
may already have received a copy of the outline and questionnaire 
from Dr Hothmer. If that is the case, I would still appreciate 
receiving a copy of your answers to the questionnaire along with 
the names and addresses of any civil engineers in your country 
who might be of assistance to me. Please, mail all correspondence

I will be in Stockholm through the end of June 1982 and would 
appreciate your response as soon as possible so as to allow time 
for me to write to the individuals suggested by you and receive 
information from them before June 1.
