MATRA OPTIC
INTRODUCTION
Most of the photogrammetric applications in the industrial
field require analytical processing.
If compared with data acquisition using mono- or stereo-
comparators and off-line processing, the main advantages
of using analytical stereoplotters are:
- continuous stereo viewing
- real time processing, which means direct results at the
object scale of data measurements
- possibility of re-orienting the stereamodel very quickly
for later comparison or control
One of the fundamental features of TRASTER, the analytical
stereoplotter of MATRA is its stereoviewing display on a
screen.
If this design, unique for this type of equipment is very
convenient for plotting from aerial photography, it is
still more attractive in industrial application where
generally operators and not experienced photogrammetrists.
I think personally that this point is very important.
In industry, like in any other non topographic application
of photogrammetry, the users want to do their own data
acquisition.
It is not only due to the fact that only the user has a
good knowledge of the need, but also for industrial property
reasons, which require confidential work, that users cannot
ask external specialists.
TRASTER satisfies the following requirements.
- we never saw anybody not having a good stereo view in a
few seconds with its screen display.
- several people can look at the same time when decisions
have to be taken
- no need for eye base adjustment
- the equipment is very simple to use thanks to the real
time logic unit developed to facilitate the operator
reaching maximum efficiency especially during the setting
phases, and thus minimizing the possibility of error.
- very high comfort for the operator.
