USE OF TRASTER IN THE INDUSTRIAL FIELD
It is not easy to explain what has been done with TRASTER in
this field.
The reason is that the only way to describe results would be to
give the accuracy of the measurements made in the different ex-
amples.
Everyone knows that accuracy in this field depends on several
factors related to the photos.
The main factors are:
ratio base to object distance
scale of the object
quality and accuracy of the control points
type of lenses
nature of the object itself.

Of course accuracy of the instrument is important but it cannot
be evaluated on real photos. Calibration of TRASTER is made
with a grid. Maximum deviation using a grid known to 0.5 micro-
meters is 2 micrometers.
Our users have made restitution with TRASTER in very different
applications:

aircraft deformation
space launcher
very deep tub for nuclear application
smoke evaluation of nuclear centrales from normal 24x36 mm slides

For many of these jobs only TRASTER could give an answer. Each
time when a comparison was possible, the results obtained with
TRASTER were at least equivalent to those obtained with the best
stereocomparators, and at least twice as accurate as with first
order analogue stereoplotters
But always the results were obtained faster than from any other
method, and in industry, probably more than in any other field,
TIME IS MONEY.
