Abstract 
This paper presents a test of a practical method for predicting the accu- 
racy of a digital elevation model (DEM). 
The test is based on profile sampling carried out photogrammetrically by 
participants of the ISPRS, Commission III, W.G.3. Three different types 
of landscapes are investigated. 
Giving a fixed sample spacing and the precision of the DEM-data points, 
the method yields an accuracy estimate for a DEM in the area considered.
