While it took 100 years to survey the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany during 
the last century with ground survey methods, this is now possible to achieve by aerial photogram- 
metry in about 10 years. There is hope that the use of Satellite Imagery may again be able to 
speed up the process by a factor of 10,
