rge areas, they are therefore up to 5
times, faster to evaluate if they have the required resolution.
In satellite remote sensing, we must distinguish between remote sensing satellites such as the
American Landsat (MSS, TM) which offer medium resolution (pixels of 80 to 30m) and carto-
graphic satellites such as the French Spot (Pixels of 10 to 20m) and the Orbital Platforms carry-
ing photogrammetric camera systems such as Sojiet — Saljiet of the USSR (MKF—6, Kate 140),
the European Spacelab (Metric camera by the FR German
y) and the Space Shuttle (LFC by the
U.S.A.), permitting to take stereoscopic images for the determination of heights as well as plani-
metric information with a high resolution of up to 10m p
equivalents for the space cameras.

The following figures and tables summarize the present status of remote sensing.
