The package is intended primarily for use in mapping organizations, but it is organized so that
it can be used in educational institutions for training photogrammetric operators and as part of
higher education programmes in photogrammetry. It emphasizes skills, but also includes the requi
red basic theory and information to complement those skills.
The training package consists of:
(1) Instruction manuals covering theory, technical information and activities and incorpora-
ting regular seif-checks and different sets of training ma terials
(2) A specially designed computer supported Stereo Plotting Simulator (SPS)
(3) Special training programmes for future training supervisors to enable them to introduce the
training package in their organizations and ensure the continuation of the training.
PROGRAMME ORGANIZATION
A careful study of the specifications of the photogrammetric operator's job produced 13 basic
tasks (“fields of work’) which an operator might have to execute. These basic tasks are shown in
Figure 3 with an indication of the priority for the sequential preparation of the learning material
by 1TC. These priorities were influenced by the needs of the mapping organizations in the deve-
loping countries (most of whom still use analogue stereoplotters) and by some purely "system
design” reasons.
