in Kenya have recently benefited from the introduction of new techniques especially geophusical
and geochemical techniques. And recent airborne geophysical survey programmes (such as we
are referring to) have identified a number of anomalies which are being followed up by ground
geophysical and geochemistry. A project aimed at assessing industrial mineral deposits has been
embarked upon by the use of these techniques and this is expected to increase the self-reliance
and security of the country.
In conclusion we would state that the.responsibilities of the public and private sectors in
attaining the objectives set out in the intended programme involves a close co-operation and the
opening of a permanent workshop to discuss the parameters and meeting points of these arms:
We have so far limited ourselves to merely throwing light on this rather complex but invaluable
asset to any industrial programme aimed a rapid development. The thrust is to show that time
has come for us in this country to understand our environment better than we have ever done.
The private sectors, on account of the huge financial implications of this programme, plan to
start modestly. But suffice it to say that whatever co-operation we receive from the Government,
we are willing to transform into fruitful reality.
