The interpretation went on concurrently with the field work, spanning a period of 60
working days, during which tha measurement of soil physical properties were also done in the
field. The soils of the floodplains were mapped at detailed and semi-deteiled scales, emplo-
ying rigid, transect or free survey. The soils of the upiands were mapped at a level of detail,
ranging from reconnaissance to semi—detailed.
The soils were fully described and characterised, thus providing very good ground truth
informatien on the soils of this area. The 6—sheet map was digitized, grid—converted and stored
in floppy disc for later use. The LANDSAT maps are still to be rectified to this map.
