4.5 Future Work
Our future work will focus on better methods of quantifiction
of the impacts of urban land use on global productivity using
soil and climate based models. We also continue to work
with nighttime sensors, particularly new radiance and gain
controlled data from the DMSP/OLS and more precise
methods for extracting distinct levels of urban land use from
the data sets.
S. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This work was supported by the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration Mission to Planet Earth Program. We
would like to thank NASA Headquarter’s staff, and
particularly Dr. Robert Harriss for their support. The work
supported here lead directly to further successfully funded
research as part of Earth Observing System Interdisciplinary
Research Program. Further support from the USRA Summer
Internship Program enabled Mr. Kerle to work on site with
us during the summer of 1997. :
