3.2. Decorated Coated Samples 
3.2.1 Capability of the Copper Decoration Technique 
The selectivity of the technique only to defects extending through the entire coating is clearly shown in 
Figs. 3 and 4. In Fig. 3 a microhardness indentation on a decorated Zr-B coated sample is given on which 
only cracks that reach the substrate are selectively decorated. Similarly, decorated cracks resulting from
