The leaky heat exchanger (Fig. 1) was cut in several directions with a hacksaw. By optical To 
inspection only minimal corrosion in the region of the water side is observed (Fig. 2). The etc 
oil side shows a copper coloured surface and at the water side the surface is brown with - 
minimal green corrosion dots. Using a sectioning machine samples were taken from 
several regions for metallographic preparation (Fig. 3).
