Full text: The role of digital components in photogrammetric instrumentations

aa) In order to cycle real time computations every/sec (AP/C)
*• a ver Y small memory (256 word per delay line)
2. they had to be time optimized in programming due to
the access time bein g dependen t on storage location
3. they had to be machine programmed since no compiler
was generally available (except for an assembler for the
AP/C computer written at UNB)
4. they had to be programmed in fixed point to save
computing time
ab) The. AS-1 1 -A due to its fast real time requirement for
automation (every 1/100 sec) had to utilize a
digital differential analyzer- computer
to control the outgoing bit rates to the servos
depending on the incoming bit rates from the encoders.
For the conversion a second computer, interfaced with
the DDA was used /5/.
The AS-11-A due to the special.requirement to evaluate
panoramic photography was equipped with additional computer
controls to permit stereoscopic viewing with a rotable
optical zoom system.
b) the next stage of the development was of course to replace
the delay line computers by second generation computers.
ba) This was done for the AS-11-A using a BX-272 computer
making it the AS-11-A1.
bb) The standard AP/C replaced the Bendix computer by an
IBM 1130/7/.
