predicted by relating its current distribution to the climate using logistic regression. The second
example describes a dispersal model which uses climate and habitat data to predict the future
distribution of a grass Agrostis curtisii (bristle bent). The model considers local suitabilities based
upon continental climate responses and habitat availability.
A user friendly graphical user interface has been developed using ARC/Info GIS to encourage
ecologists to utilise the GIS for their research. This Core Model Demonstrator is actively being
used by university researchers to aid their studies of climate change impacts.
