photos* Orthophoto is burdened by a local defect caused by tilt
and roughness of the terrain, shifts on strips borders or image
blurring and reduplication* All these make interpretation more
difficult and reduce usefulness of orthophoto in some applications*
Therefore, knowing the purpose for which the oi?thophotomap is
produced one can choose both the ¿instrument and parameters of
rectification and the proper observer* All these ensure needed
cartometric accuracy and adequate quality of orthophoto image*
The above mentioned factors are deciding in the problem of
economic profitability of orthophoto production*
Reproduction /printing of orthophoto is a separate subject*
It is important not only from the point of orthophoto distribu
tion but also from the point of reproduction cost* Orthophoto
can be duplicated by:
1/ photographic procedure as photoprints on paper or on stable
film,
2/ sereened or unscreened diazo prints,
3/ offset screened printing*
The problem of orthophoto reproduction has two aspects:
1 - expensive cost when proper reproduction is expected*
2 - difficulty in duplicating orthophoto*
3* Economic parameters of profitability o f orthophotomap produc-
tion
Independently of the choice of the three above discussed factors
economic parameters will always influence the orthophoto produc
tion* These parameter are associated with the following four
aspects: amortization, production
contnuity and efficiency, and
reliability of system performance*
In the case of optical and mechanical instruments amorti
zation is assumed for the period of ten years, but with
electronic instruments only for five years* The capital expendi
ture salvage must be also consider for the instrumentation
which is occasionaly U3ed in map production*
Production continuity of the applied
equipment has an essential influence on the cost of the ortho
photomap production* If orthophoto is produced periodically
only then an equipment should be selected which could be also
applied for some other photogrammetrie purposes. It decreases
the degree of amortization surcharge on orthophoto product and
raises the coefficient of instrumentation utilization of the
company.
Production efficiency in orthophoto depends,
first of all* on the system efficiency* But in the case of the
systems controlled and based on the man observer the said
efficiency will be also dependent on the function of his know
ledge, ability and experience* The system efficiency is based
on two essential parameters: the width of strips and speed of
scanning* It also depends on the rapidity of orientation, scaling
and levelling as well as on the scale ratio between orthophoto
and original photo in some systems* The width of
strips is conditioned by the lay of the land, orthophoto
