Abstract
The development and inventory of photogrammetrie educatio
nal facilities in Africa is presented and analysed. A summary
is given of the states of Africa /excluding Francophone Africa/
in which photogrammetry is practised and photogrammetrie edu
cation is available at various levels.
In Nigeria, the state of topographic and non-topographi-
cal application of photogrammetry and training is portayed.
The need for remote sensing and multiple applications are expo-
i
sed. The advancement in photogrammetrie education in this coun
try is also discussed in greater detail. The need for greater
/
attention in education and research is emphasized.
The various National Governments all over Africa are called
upon to encourage and pay greater attention, in terms of finan
cial commitments, to the use of photogrammetry and its advanced
techniques as tool for development.
The general lack of co-ordination between topographical
and non-topographical applications is highlighted. The need for
«
better education in this co-ordination aspects is discussed.
This is seen to be most vital to the development of rural areas.
