4, RELATION OF GIS WITH
PHOTOGRAMMETRY
Up to now Photogrammetry is a separate
academic chair within our Faculty of Geodesy.
Because there is a tendency to make larger
units, there is a discussion in which unit
photogrammetry should be placed. One of the
possibilities is that it is combined in our group
of land information and cartography. In the
foregoing paragraphs I shov/ed a lot of rela
tions between the areas. Another possibility is
the relation with the unit dealing with mathe
matical geodesy and surveying techniques.
Probably photogrammetry will be joined in the
coming years to the latter unit. In land infor
mation and cartography there will be an own
research programme in photogrammetry and
remote sensing.
