The second year of the MSc. Degree programme consists of approximately 6 weeks
of advanced coursework common to all fields, including training in research
design, followed by individually structured specializations (approximately 12
weeks). The final 30 weeks is devoted full time to the research project and
completion of a thesis (see figure 4).
The programme reflects aspects of:
- management (of system design and implementation)
- integration (of geo-information production technologies)
- users (sensitivity and interfaces)
The common parts of the programme, in year 1 and 2, are well balanced in
terms of:
- integration of subject matter from different disciplines
- question driven versus inventory data driven procedures
- locational versus attribute resolution
The structured study programme and thesis in the second year of the programme
may focus on aspects of system design and implementation in a specialized
field.
