workshops were located in the T Buildings as they still were when the plant was shut down. As it may be understood from the
Pervititch Insurance Maps and an old aerial photograph, this first period lasted until 1938 (Fig.4).
Building C was used as a stable until the end of this initial period and was then converted to a workshop for the production and
maintenance of gas counters in 1938. Also during this second period, a new gas holder (Gb) and later in 1951-52 another plant for the
production of carburated-gas were added.
The last period comprised of the time interval when the vertical retort batteries and the cleaning and purification plants were added.
The plot became mostly built up in this third period, which nearly lasted a decade. After the gasworks were shut down in 1993,
apartment blocks were constructed on a section of the site, which was separated with the opening of Uhuvvet/Ikbaliye streets in the
second half of the same decade (Ozsoy 1973).
