5 CONCLUSIONS AND FUTURE RESEARCH
The creating of city models is necessary for visualization 3D
city data of high fidelity on Internet, at the same time, storing of
large amount of spatial data and attribute data also is of vital
importance. The 3D city model is very useful in many fields
(landscape analysis, urban planning etc). Interactive operation
via Internet about building model such as querying buildings,
SQL analysis about some buildings in the area, and so on, is
indispensable. In this paper, some researches about
visualization 3D geographic data and constructing 3D building
model are introduced. A system prototype (CWeb3D) for
visualization 3D-city model on Internet is developed and
several conclusions are drawn as follows:
• LC model is developed to construct complex
buildings, which not only can be used to construct
Internet 3D building model, but also can be suited to
interactive operation on Internet including query and SQL
analysis.
• Interactive operation on Internet about building
model on server side, such as create, query, mapping
textures, and so on, can be fulfilled in this system.
• A data organization for storing building model is
implemented for the requirements of visualization,
interactive operation such as visualization, query,
mapping textures, and so on.
• A system prototype (CWeb3D) for 3D-city model
on Internet is developed which includes 3D visualization
and operation about querying 3D objects and some query
analysis.
For future research, considering the speed of operating the 3D
city scene on client-side, mapping textures on the building
model also needs to improve. The main buildings that are
important to show 3D city scene need to map textures. And
using colors instead of textures to display other buildings, all
this will speed up the 3D city scene operation. The deep
research about the spatial analysis, such as shortcut analysis,
is needed
