can detect global sea surface temperature and
chlorophyl concentration. In order to minimize
sun glitter, the field of view must be pointable
on command and has tilting mechanism along track
to either side of nadir. Concerning AVNIR,
spatial resolution is 16m (multi-band) and
8m (panchromatic band). AVNIR is more advanced
radiometer than MOS-1 MESSR, JERS-1 OPS.
ADEOS will provide environmental data sets in
ocean, land and atmosphere. OCTS is mainly for
ocean, AVNIR is mainly for land and 6 AO sensors
are for atmosphere.
4.3 TRMM System
TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) will
be launched by H-II rocket in 1996. This is a
joint project between NASA and NASDA. NASDA will
provide the precipitation radar (PR) in
collaboration with CRL (Communication Research
Laboratory) and launch TRMM by H-II rocket and
NASA will provide the spacecraft, microwave
radiometer,AVHRR and data system. The altitude of
the TRMM is 350km and its inclination is 35
degrees. So, rainfall will be observed around
tropical region and seasonal rainfront called
"Baiu" appearing every June over the southern
ocean of Japan also will be observed.
4.4 POP System
As a part of mission to planet earth, NASA will
launch two series of polar platforms EOS-A and
EOS-B, ESA also will launch two series of polar
platforms ESA N1 and ESA Ml. NASDA is planning to
launch JPOP (Japanese Polar Platform)in 1998. The
detailed mission scenario of JPOP has been
studied under the committees supported by NASDA.
