Title
Proceedings of the Symposium on Progress in Data Processing and Analysis

Nowadays maps pf various ecological content are
elaborated with the application of remote sensing
pnotodatai RSPD). The maps of natural resources which
characterize the state of basic resources of the
territory, the level of their utilization and the
trend of modern development with the consideration of
the anthropogenic influence, are mostly actual and
of outstanding importance. The mentioned maps
compiled by quick mode present the source of unique
complex information. The compilation of such maps is
first of all profitable for the territories of
intensive economic development which suffer from the
lack of information and where the updating of the
information about the whole file of ecological
situation parameters is necessary.
The technology of mapping by remote sensing
photoimages and utilization of the data obtained from
traditional methods are of the high economic
efficiency and can be used for the study of any
territory. The State Centre "PRIRODft" of Main
Administration of Geodesy and Cartography of the USSR
aiming to develop the cooperation with other-
countries and organizations, performs interbranch
processing of acquired data, supply this data to
work operators, render methodical assistance in the
application of RSPD for thematic mapping.
Considering the scopes of the ecological
situations development in the territorial aspect,i.e,
when their location, development and distribution
area is taken into account, we will understand the
importance of the word "the territory" as having deep
ecological sense. The territory as a special type of
spatial assembly of natural resources turns more
important than the resource is. The last can be
changed, but the territory is an exhausting and
nonrenewable ecological resource. So the
territorial approach based on the studies of
geographical laws is very important and necessary.
The existing conception of the ecological systems
is understood as the problem of an exchange between
the organisms and the environment. It is not
connected with the space and the scale and that is
why does not have its geographical dimensions. Due to
the fact that the term of the ecological situation is
considered in limits of geosystems as the feature of
their activity and development, biotic elements must
be characterized in the limits of landscape outlines.
