1:50,000. However, cadastral level (1:8,000 or larger)
mapping can be undertaken wherever necessary for a
specific area using 1:50,000 scale soil map as map base.
Aerial photographs or high resolution satellite data
(panchromatic at 2.5 m or larger resolution and multi-
spectral at 10 m or larger resolution) which would be
available in future remote sensing satellite systems could
be used for cadastral mapping of soils and land
degradation (1:8,000 or larger).
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The author expresses his gratitude to Dr. D.P. Rao,
Director, NRSA and Shri S.K. Bhan, Deputy Director
(Applications) for their encouragement in presenting this
paper. He also thanks Shir T. Ravi Sankar, Scientist of
Agriculture & Soils Group for his technical support in
the preparation of the paper.
