should push much harder at the policymaking level to get these
restrictions lifted.
8.8 Technology still driving the system.
Let us be frank: technological development of new possibilities
drives the system of remote sensing applications, not the users'
demands or needs. This may well remain so.
The trend from P.C. based systems to the more powerful (and
more expensive) workstations looks like raising the expenditure
for processing equipment again, at least temporarily. The
increasing processing power and memory expansion of PC’s
may be set to couteract this trend.
In education, it should be realized that applications of remote
sensing can only be taught to qualified professionals in that
particular field of science or technology, and to the somewhat
advanced student in that subject.
