ABSTRACT
A software package Remote Sensing Navigator(RS Navi) was developed by the Space Engineering development Co.(SED)
under the cooperation with the National Space Development Agency of Japan(NASDA), the Remote Sensing Technology
Center of Japan(RESTEC), Tokai University and others. The RS Navi is designed to navigate the beginners to learn about the
concept of remote sensing and to get the idea of how to perform analysis for their own purposes. The RS Navi CD-ROM
consists of a kind of browser, data base software, and satellite data. The user can use RS Navi like an internet browser. For
example, once an application field is selected, guide line for using remote sensing in the particular application field will be
displayed. Hyper text will allow user to see the detailed description on important key words. One of the high light of the
software is the flowchart of the particular analysis procedure. The flowchart allows users to learn the analysis procedure step by
step. In each step, user can go into details if necessary. Various satellite images including processed result can be easily
displayed with the browsing function of the software, which allows users to understand the characteristics of satellite images as
well as what kind of results can be acquired. The original version of RS Navi is written in Japanese, but the English version is
now under development with the funding of NASDA. NASDA plans to distribute the RS Navi CD-ROM to the users on free of
charge.
