Header: main navigation menu and related submenus.
• Query: devoted to the data retrieval. In this part a
searching aid form can be displayed.
• Report: this frame will contain the search results, or the
descriptive forms.
• Graphic: is the main part of the Web page, where all the
graphic searches are displayed in an Active CGM format.
3. Case study
Creation of the Web mapping application: this is the site
setup. The different steps include:
• search aids implementation to guide users in the
database information retrieval;
• integration of Active CGM maps in HTML
documents;
• to implement safe rules to avoid local network
external users entering the system (a login procedure
has been produced to prevent this problem).
In order to show what has been illustrated before; fig. 5 shows a simple search example performed on the realised Web.
