FINAL PLENARY SESSION
on Friday, 16th September, 1960
The Secretary-General: 1 have pleasure in calling to order this final
Plenary Session of the Ninth Congress for Photogrammetry. Pray silence for your
President.
The President then announced the order of proceedings, as follows:
1. Motions put forward by the seven Technical Commissions to be read
out by the President of each Commission in turn and to be voted upon.
2. Motions put forward by the Delegates Meeting to be read out by the
Secretary-General and to be voted upon.
3. Address by the out-going President.
4. Induction of the newly-elected President.
5. Address by the new President.
6. Closure.
The President: I will now ask the Commission Presidents, as they are called
upon by the Secretary-General, to read out their motions. And may 1 say that,
having seen these motions and having consulted with the Commission Presidents
about them, l do not suppose that any is so controversial that you cannot happily
accept it. Indeed, 1 believe that in a General Assembly, if your Council, your Dele
gates Meetings, and your Boards of Commissions have not succeeded in bringing
before you matters you can all accept, then they have probably not done their job
very well.
The respective Presidents of each Commission then introduced and read out
the following motions, each of which was carried unanimously to become a resolution
of the General Meeting.
RESOLUTIONS OF THE TECHNICAL COMMISSIONS
Commission I - Photography and Navigation
Recommendations concerning the
organisation of the next Congress
Commission I suggest that the
length of the Technical Sessions
should be increased, even if their
number is reduced. It is felt that
sessions of 1 hour 40 minutes, with
an interval of 10 minutes near the
middle, would provide a very
good solution.
Commission I, whose activities
are of a particularly wide tech
nical nature, suggest the retention
of supplementary or informal ses
sions devoted to the study of
specific subjects, called at the
discretion of the Commission
President and coordinated with
the programme of official ses
sions, as were organised in Lon
don with the help of our British
colleagues.
Resolution 1 (Commission I)
Recommandations concernant l’or
ganisation du prochain congrès
La Commission I souhaite que
la durée des séances techniques
soit allongée, quitte à ce que leur
nombre soit réduit; elle considère
qu'une séance d’une heure quaran
te, avec une coupure de dix minu
tes vers le milieu de la séance,
constitue une très bonne solution.
La Commission I, dont les ac
tivités ont un caractère technique
très particulier et très étendu,
souhaite le maintien de réunions
en comité restreint, consacrées à
l’étude d’un sujet bien déterminé,
convoquées à la diligence du Pré
sident de Commission et en fonc
tion du calendrier des séances of
ficielles, telles qu’elles purent être
organisées à Londres grâce à
l’obligeance de nos collègues bri
tanniques.
bezüglich der Organisation des
nächsten Kongresses
Die Kommission I hat den
Wunsch, dass die Zeitdauer der
Technischen Sitzungen verlängert,
d.h. also ihre Anzahl verringert
wird. Die Kommission I ist der
Meinung, dass jede Sitzung etwa
1 Stunde und 40 Minuten ein
schliesslich einer Pause gegen
Mitte der Sitzung dauern sollte.
Die Tätigkeit der Kommission 1
umfasst eine grosse Anzahl sehr
spezieller technischer Fragen, die
Kommission hat deshalb den
Wunsch, dass Sitzungen mit be
schränkter Teilnehmerzahl abge
halten werden können. Die Sit
zungen sollten in Zusammenhang
mit dem offiziellen Programm vom
Präsidenten der Kommission ein
berufen werden und dem Studium
genau definierter Fragen gewid
met sein; Dank der Mitarbeit der
englischen Kollegen konnte auf
dem Kongress in London bereits
ein solcher Weg beschritten wer
den.
