Gibson University of Aston in Birmingham, England ABSIRACT Studies of derelict land using aerial photographs have indicated the possibility of using the technique for surveying such land on a larger le tels ir photos trio au me liste >n qui scale. The need for a survey is great, particularly, in the United Kingdom where land has to be used intensively for all urban and industrial activities. The old County of Glamorgan, South Wales, has been surveyed for derelict land using black and white vertical photographs of 1:5000 scale, and aspects of the survey are discussed with particular reference to mining. Die Notwendigkeit fur eine solche Begutachtung ist gross, besonders in Grossbritannien, wo Land für alle städtischen und industriellen Belange intensiv genutzt werden muss. Die alte Grafschaft von Glamorgan in Sudwales ist auf brachliegendes Land überprüft worden, indem man vertikale schwarz—weiss Fotografien im Masstab 1:5000 angefertigt hat. Aspekte dieses Gutachtens werden mit besonderem Bezug auf den Bergbau diskutiert. Ein Beispiel für die Verwendung der erhaltenen Daten wird mit Hinweis auf eine Studie gegeben, die zu umreissen versucht, wie Vernachlässigung die aesthetische Qualität der Landschaft beeinflusst.
