for Remote Sensing, CCRS) empfangt täglich rund 80 Einzelbilder von
dem ERTS (Earth Resources Technology Satellite) mit einem Informat
ionsgehalt von 1.5 X 10l0 bit von multispiktralen Abtastdaten. Der
ERTS erfasst das gesamte kanadische Staatsgebiet in jeweils achtzehn
Tagen.

Bildinhaltsauswertung. Die verschiedenen Losungswege des Problems
der automatisierten Klassifizierung werden beschrieben.

Band !
The first Earth Resources Technology Satellite (ERTS-1)
was launched on July 23, 1972. The satellite operates in a circular,
Band (
sun-synchronous, near polar orbit at an altitude of 494 nautical
miles. The satellite completes 14 orbits per day and covers the
entire earth every 18 days. The satellite ground track revisits
almost the same point on the earth every 18 days at essentially
the same local time.
Band
The most useful instrument on board ERTS-1 for Canadian
investigators has been the multispectral scanner (MSS). This
instrument uses an oscillating mirror to continuously scan
perpendicular to the spacecraft motion. Six lines are scanned
simultaneously in four spectral bands for each mirror sweep. The
four spectral bands are listed in Table I. Bands 4 through 6 use
photomultiplier tubes as detectors; band 7 uses silicon photodiodes.
Unfortunately, the six sensors for each band suffer from unequal
