Besides the single transmission levels also the correla 
tions between atmosphere, aircraft, imaging system and data 
carriers diminish the quality of remote sensing data. 
The most important sources of quality reserves are the 
improvement of acquisition of orientation data, of naviga 
tion and attitude stabilization of aircraft, dynamic or/and 
electronic compensation of bluring and distortion influen 
ce of angular (rotatory) movements, and the increase of 
specific information content of remote sensing recordings 
in connection with the correspondi ng image processing. For 
it a concept for the introduction of a data preparation 
system is presented which is orientated on practical use.

1. Problems of data acquisition from aircraft 
The results found with new and improved imaging systems 
laboratory and flight test conditions on the ground were 
not obtained throughout in practical routine flights. It 
was thus necessary to investigate the causes of negative 
influences under practical conditions and to initiate 
counteractions. 
Investigations led to the result that an essential reason 
is the interaction between the imaging system, its data 
carrier, the aircraft, and the ambient atmosphere. The com 
plexity of the overall process required largely interdisci 
plinary cooperation.
