960 We are very greatful that the industry has ac cepted our invitation to exhibit their most recent instruments during this Symposium. I expect, that during this week’s discussions we will have to face the need for compromise between precision and productivity, for instance in the manufacturing of townmaps in developing countries and in the acquisition and monitoring of environmen tal data. In this respect it is a great comfort that Professor Konecny and Dr. Tbrlegard honour us with their presence, as well as other ISPRS members who are familiar with the work that is going on in the other six ISPRS Commissions. The key-note address of Professor Konecny today will provide a reference, essential to our further dis cussions. Finally, I should like to challenge you all to direct your discussions primarily towards techniques and applications of remote sensing which can con tribute to operational solutions in the foreseeable future for some of the development problems I have mentioned. We shall review the results of your discussions during our closing session. Ladies and Gentlemen, As I told you, I am grateful for your presence, I am also grateful in advance for your contributions in presentations and in the discussions. I wish you all a very enjoyable week. Thank you for your attention.
