Summary 
Air photo interpretation in Poland developed on the basis 
of topographic fotogrammetry. Termal techniques were rapidly 
developed after 1972. 
Since 1975 remote sensing techniques have been introduced and 
further development of those techniques is based’on a compre 
hensive long -term program. National Remote Sensing Centre has 
been established at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography. 
The Centre processes and elaborates satellite imagery, aerial 
jihotographs and ground truth data and cooperates in this 
respect with users throughout the country. Remote Sensing Centre 
actively cooperates with Remote Sensing Centres throughout the 
world and with international organizations. 
The author briefly outlines practical applications of remote 
sensing in the field of resource management, mineral explora 
tion, spatial planning, agriculture, forestry and the preser 
vation of natural environment.

L'interprétation de photos aériennes s'est développée en Pologne à base de 
la photogrammétrie topographique. A partir de l'année 1972 on a introduit 
l'utilisation intensif de la technique thermale. Depuis 197 5 la télédétection est 
développée régulièrement et d'une façon complexe selon le programme spécia*
