4 HUMAN MOTION ANALYSIS
4.1 Experiment
For dynamic analysis of human motion using the video
theodolite and the digital video system, a digital camera was
mounted on a motorized video theodolite. In this combined
system, digital sequential image for 24 seconds (1440 frames)
can be acquired in real-time, but due to the relatively slow data
(rotation parameters) acquisition and an asynchronous, walking
experiment was performed under the following condition.
1. Walking course is divided into 3 sections, right, center and
left section.
2. After the camera calibration at the center section, video
theodolite rotate to direction of right section.
3. Sequential digital image while walking in the right section
are taken.
4. Video theodolite skip to the center section.
5. Imaging start when a human comes the center section.
6. Similar, video theodolite skip to the left section and imaging
are performed.
7. Image coordinates of markers are continuously recorded while
imaging.
8. 2D coordinate of each marker is obtained using calibration
results and changing angles in vertical, horizontal direction
since the camera parameters for each section image can be
estimated as the sum of changing vertical and horizontal
values resulting calibration results respectively.
10. The exposure positions for each section image are corrected.
Figure 4 shows the outline for this experiment. In order to
analyze abnormal walking, the left knee was fixed by brace, and
makers were fitted on the feature points such as the head, waist,
and left shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle, tiptoe. Figure 6
shows the skeleton image every 5 frames in each section.
