INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS FÜR ULTRA WIDE ANGLE MAPPING
By Donald Kennedy,
Wild Heerbrugg Ltd.
Introduction
At the 196G Congress of the International Society for Photo-
grammetry in London, the first complete instrumentation for
mapping from ultra uide angle (120°) photography uas introduced
to the public by Wild Heerbrugg. The development of this instru
mentation up to 196G has already been described in the published
technical papers (l) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7). The instruments
had been designed in tuo groups as integrated instrument systems
catering fully for mapping based on photogrammetric control de
rived by analog and by analytical methods.
Briefly, the basic instruments in the Wild ultra uide angle pro
gramme are as follous:
- for photography, the RC9 Camera
- for diapositive printing and correction, one of the U3 or U4
Printers
- for analog triangulation and subsequent compilation, the A9
Autograph and the B9 Aviograph, both using reduced diapositives
- for analytical triangulation and subsequent compilation, the
STK1 Btereocomparator and the B8 Aviograph, both accepting
full-size diapositives.
In addition, Wild manufacture several auxiliary .instruments for
use uith the basic ultra uide angle equipment; tuo neu air
borne instruments have been developed since 196G and many impro
vements have been made to the original products in the course
of normal development.
In vieu of the neu equipment and the modifications made to
existing instruments since 196B, a list of the current Wild
airborne equipment for ultra uide angle mapping is given,
