Plans for future work.
In 1955 the Norwegian Government accepted a 10-years plan for a co
operation between Army Map Service, U.S.A. and the Geographical Survey
of Norway regarding a topographic map series on the scale of 1 : 50 000.
This project requires a remapping of areas with 1 : 100 000 scale maps
of older date, totalling an area of 78 000 km 2 . Further on a mapping of areas
covered with very old maps in 1 : 200 000 without contour lines; this area
amounts to 32 000 km 2 . The maps will be compiled from a material with a
photo-scale of 1 : 50 000.
