GVII-9 (Sup.)
Hereafter, the interpretation refers to this rectangle.
Every such rectangle is given points showing the
value of the forest and the ground under consideration what
is to be paid if a power transmission line is placed along
the area. In the same way the stereomodels are studied to
give points for the influence of topography and ground on
the building or construction costs for the transmission
line. At the same time, the risk for integument of ice on
the power line is considered.
In the same way, points are determined for every
area as to transportation costs and roadbuilding costs.
Of course, it will also be found during the photo
interpretation if there are any circumstances which def
initely are prohibitive for placing the transmission line
in a given area,
6, Every second photograph has now the grid mentioned
above and figures showing the points for forest value,
ground value, building costs, transportation costs, road
costs, etc. These figures are transferred to the base
maps, mentioned in point 2 above,
7, These maps are joined to each other to form a
long strip map of the area. A piano thread is fastened
in a fixed point in one end of the long map, a point
through which for other reasons the transmission line
must go. The thread is thereafter guided between pins
to the other end of a map where another fixed point is
given. The distance between the two points are about
100 km on the ground, or about 5 m on the map. The
position of the thread is marked on the maps with a
colored pencil and the length of the thread is observed
at the other fixed point,
8, All the cost-points along the thread, showing
forest value, etc,, are summarized which will give a
general view of the relative costs for this position of
the line.
9, Other locations of the line are tested in the
same way and so the tendency of how the costs will vary
for different alternatives will be found.
10, When the best alternative or alternatives have
been found, more careful interpretation along these
band shaped alternatives will be carried through. This
will give an important check of the results of the first
interpretation which canno.t be’very detailed for time
