A good cooperation with the Geographical Survey Office, the Board
of Land Survey, the Department of Photography at the General Staff
of Defense, the Air Force Administration, the Division of Photography
and the Laboratory of Optics at the Royal Institute of Technology is
established since long time.
Research
The research at the Division of Photogrammetry has mainly been
devoted to the theory of errors for photogrammetry. The ultimate goal
is to find theoretically correct and practically applicable methods for
the determination of the most probable results of the photogrammetric
measurements and the reliability of same. For this purpose the photo-
grammetric procedure has been divided into a number of fundamental
operations. These operations are separately treated for the determina-
tion of the basic factors that limit the accuracy. This 1s mainly a prob-
lem of distinguishing between systematic and accidental errors of the
basic observations. When the systematic errors are determined as care-
fully as possible, the error propagation of the accidental errors through
the procedure is studied. The fundamental operations include the re-
construction of the pencils of rays from photography, the relative and
the absolute orientation etc.
The research has also been devoted to the application of photogram-
metry to various problems, particularly in the non-topographic field.
The x-ray photogrammetry has been applied to different problems of
medicine.
Cameras for non-topographic photogrammetry have been construc-
ted and are in practical use.
Instruments for photogrammetric plotting have been constructed
(mechanical radial triangulation, mirror stereoscope measurements,
measuring devices for x-ray pictures in dentistry).
The instruction
At present, three courses are regularly given each year.
