4. Exhibition: An exhibition of photogrammetry was held at Forest Research
Institute, Botanical Garden, Taipei in December 1955. Thousands of college
students, teachers and members from various governmental and private agen-
cies visited the exhibition with great interest. Another exhibition on photogram-
metry was displayed at the National Academy of Sciences at Panchiao in the
suburb of Taipei, Taiwan. The exhibition lasted about 6 weeks and was visited
by tens of thousands of school children and people of all walks.
5. Surveys: The CSP assisted the following aerial surveys for resource de-
velopment.
a) National forest management plan surveys:
'The Society is now assisting forest agency in aerial surveys of four national
forest regions in Taiwan. Its objective is to provide necessary information for
the compilation of management plans. These surveys are carried out by 32 CSP
members for a period of eight months at a cost of NT 10 per Hectare. It saves
the government agency in charge of forest management at least 50 % of working
time as needed in the conventional ground survey method.
b) Land use and forest resource map of Shihmen Reservoir watershed area:
Based on the data obtained in aerial survey in 1955, a land use and forest
resource map of Shihmen Reservoir watershed area was made by 3 members of
CSP. It provides essential information for soil conservation and resource ma-
nagement.
c) Intensive Forest Management Plan Survey for the Experimental Forests
of the National Taiwan University.
Similar to the over-all land use and forest resource survey, but more intensive,
the forest management plan survey for National Taiwan University was con-
